USPS Files for a Postage Rate Increase

Document Actions
On April 8, 2005 the Postal Service filed for an across-the-board 5.4% rate increase with the Postal Rate Commission(PRC).

If is is expedited through the PRC as has been requested, we may see increases in postage rates as early as January 2006.

The USPS says it needs to increase postage rates in order to meet a mandated escrow payment. These payments are to increase annually. Otherwise, the USPS says, it would break even this year. It looks as if this will be an ongoing issue without some serious postal reform.

You can get a PDF(put together by our friends over at MFSA) of the requested rates here and it is reprinted in the most recent issue of The Acorn, Lone Oak Companies' newsletter.
